Frequently Asked Questions
Which regime is better for me?
It depends on your investments. Generally, if your deductions (HRA, 80C, 80D, etc.) exceed ₹3.75 Lakhs, the Old Regime might be beneficial. Otherwise, the New Regime usually offers lower tax rates. Use the calculator above to check.
Is Standard Deduction applicable in New Regime?
Yes, starting from FY 2023-24, the Standard Deduction of ₹50,000 (increased to ₹75,000 proposed in recent updates for specific cases) is available under the New Regime as well for salaried individuals.
Do I need to file ITR if my income is tax-free?
Even if your tax liability is zero, filing ITR is mandatory if your total income exceeds the basic exemption limit (₹3 Lakhs). It is also helpful for loan processing and visa applications.
